I did not know Pete very well, but I sure remember the wreck he died in north of town. He and Bruce Herring were coming back from Perryton on Friday afternoon and ran off the road and into a deep creek and both were killed, it was our junior year. I finally found Pete's grave here at Pampa and found out that he has had no head stone or marker for these past 42 years. his father is buried beside him and according to the obit he only had a sister living in california at he time of his death.
Pete, if you were here, I would be the first to say, that you were the most talked about person (who passed to the other side). Many did not know your true name, but only your nick name. It was not a kind one (but it was ment with great affection by everyone I knew), you were loved by many. Everyone thought of you as kind and funny. If only you knew how many people wondered about your crazy nick name and missed you.(I personally think you would smile)
